In Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, Gokul Chavan has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman while offering assistance with the e-KYC process for the Ladki Bahin scheme, which provides ₹1,500 monthly to beneficiary women. The victim, who had stopped receiving her financial assistance due to errors in her e-KYC, was approached by Chavan, a family acquaintance, when her husband was not home. He reportedly demanded sexual favors in exchange for completing the process. After informing her husband, the couple lodged a complaint with the police, leading to Chavan's arrest. Local authorities have urged citizens to complete e-KYC only through authorized personnel to prevent such incidents. Political leaders, including NCP (SP) leader Rohini Khadse and BJP leader Praveen Darekar, have called for strict action against the accused.
