The Government of India reported that over 624,000 passengers have returned from the West Asia region as tensions between the US-Israel and Iran escalate. Aseem R Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf) at the Ministry of External Affairs, stated that airlines are operating limited non-scheduled flights based on safety considerations, with around 90 flights expected to operate from the UAE to various destinations in India. Additionally, flights are running from Saudi Arabia and Oman, while Qatar Airways plans to operate 8 to 10 flights today. Due to airspace closures, the government is facilitating travel from Iran through Armenia and Azerbaijan, and from Israel through Egypt and Jordan. Mahajan also provided an update on an Indian national injured in the UAE after debris from an intercepted drone fell near an industrial facility, assuring that the Ministry is prioritizing the safety and welfare of the Indian community in the region. A special control room remains operational to assist Indian nationals and their families.
