Bengaluru's Namma Metro has slipped to third place in India regarding operational network length, following recent expansions by Mumbai Metro. The Mumbai Metro has added approximately 10 km of new corridors, including the Dahisar-Kashigaon line, bringing its total network to over 100 km. In contrast, Delhi Metro continues to lead with a sprawling 416 km network. Namma Metro currently operates a 96 km network, which includes nearly 19 km added in the past year. Since its inception in 2011, Namma Metro has expanded at an average rate of 6 km per year, while Mumbai Metro, which started operations in 2014, has caught up rapidly. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has faced criticism for delays, particularly with the Yellow Line project, which has affected train frequencies and overall operations. Looking forward, BMRCL plans to launch a 7-km stretch of the Pink Line by mid-2026 and aims to expand the network to nearly 175 km by 2027.
