The Ahmedabad City Police are investigating the deaths of two young sisters, two-and-a-half-month-old Raha and her three-year-old sister Mishri, who died under mysterious circumstances in early April 2023. Following the tragic events, toxic chemicals, specifically aluminium phosphide and zinc, were detected in the blood of their parents, Vimal and Bhavna Prajapati. A diary found by the police revealed Bhavna's desire for a son, suggesting possible motives behind the deaths. The parents initially claimed that their children died from food poisoning after consuming dosas made from a ready-made batter. However, this theory has been dismissed by police due to the improbability of a breastfeeding infant being given solid food. Furthermore, the dairy that sold the batter reported no other complaints from that batch. The investigation has been complicated by the family's decision to bury Raha without notifying authorities, leading to an exhumation for a post-mortem examination. The police are also questioning family members to gather more information as they continue their investigation.
