In response to rising geopolitical tensions and fluctuations in global oil markets, Oil India Ltd has ramped up crude oil production in Rajasthan's Thar desert, achieving a record output of 1,202 barrels per day. This marks a 70% increase from last year's production of 705 barrels per day. The company's success is attributed to the deployment of advanced recovery techniques, particularly Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS), which has enabled large-scale extraction from the region's challenging geological conditions. In the financial year 2025-26, Oil India's Rajasthan field produced 43,773 metric tonnes of crude oil, up from 32,787 metric tonnes the previous year. The Baghewala oil field, located in the Bikaner-Nagaur sub-basin, has been a key site for heavy crude production since its discovery in 1991. With 52 wells currently operational, the field is crucial for enhancing India's energy security and reducing reliance on imported crude oil.
