Uttar Pradesh's excise revenue for the financial year 2025-26 reached a record ₹57,722.26 crore, reflecting a growth of 9.79% from the previous fiscal year. This increase of ₹5,149.19 crore is attributed to the excise department's modernization efforts, including the implementation of the Integrated Excise Supply Chain Management System (IESCMS) which enhanced operational efficiency and transparency. State excise minister Nitin Agarwal highlighted that the department's initiatives, such as digitizing internal processes and employing automated monitoring technologies, played a crucial role in curbing revenue leakage. Enforcement actions against illicit liquor trade were intensified, resulting in over 1,09,077 cases registered and the seizure of more than 28.08 lakh litres of illegal liquor. For the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27, the excise revenue target has been set at ₹71,278 crore, with a focus on export policy and an e-lottery system for shop allotments, which has already seen successful renewals of 25,613 liquor shops.
