During the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected executive body of the Gorakhpur Journalists Press Club in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the necessity for self-regulation in journalism. He pointed out that inconsistencies in reporting across print, visual, digital, and social media could confuse the public and erode trust. Adityanath emphasized that journalism must adhere to shared standards and core values, warning against unrestrained practices that mislead society. He noted the historical significance of Hindi journalism, commemorating its 200-year legacy since the launch of Udant Martand in 1826. The chief minister also reiterated the state government's zero-tolerance policy towards crime and corruption and announced welfare measures for journalists, including housing schemes and cashless medical facilities. The event concluded with the oath administered to the new office-bearers, including president Omkar Dhar Dwivedi and general secretary Pankaj Srivastava.
