The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is set to release new Class 9 textbooks by April 15, 2026, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. NCERT director Dinesh Prasad Saklani announced that most textbooks are in the printing stage, with the development involving around 4,000 experts to ensure diverse perspectives and high-quality content. This extensive collaboration has delayed the process but aims to prevent controversies like those experienced in previous editions. For instance, a Class 8 textbook faced backlash for a chapter on 'Corruption in the Judiciary,' prompting NCERT to apologize and recall over 80,000 copies. As the new academic session started in over 32,900 CBSE-affiliated schools on April 1, schools are encouraged to utilize existing syllabi to initiate teaching while awaiting the new textbooks.
