KKR has not won any of their first three matches, earning just one point from a washed-out game against Punjab Kings. Ganguly expressed his belief that Rinku, who has largely batted at No. 5, is a superior player deserving of a higher position in the order. Rinku has made notable contributions in past IPL seasons, including a remarkable performance in IPL 2023 where he became the first player to hit five sixes in the final over of a T20 chase. This season, KKR has retained Ajinkya Rahane as captain and has placed Cameron Green, their most expensive overseas player at ₹25.20 crore (approximately $3 million USD), at No. 3, despite his underwhelming scores so far. KKR will face Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on Thursday.
