Ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., the colt completed the 1 1/8 miles race in 1:49.58, securing 100 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby scheduled for May 2 at Churchill Downs. Trained by Brad Cox, Further Ado is a son of Gun Runner, the 2017 Horse of the Year. Following Further Ado were Ottinho in second place, earning 50 points, and Talkin in third, who received 25 points. Notably, the Blue Grass Stakes winner has not won the Kentucky Derby since Strike the Gold in 1991. Other races later on the same day included the $750,000 Wood Memorial and $500,000 Santa Anita Derby, which also offered Derby qualifying points.
