The incident occurred while the train was halted between Pilkhuwa and Masuri due to chain pulling. The prosecution claimed the men hurled abuses and stones at passengers, but the defense argued that the train's loco pilot could not identify them. Special judge Neeraj Gautam ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the acquittal of the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
