Binance has launched a prediction market feature within its Binance Wallet, enabling users to trade on the outcomes of various real-world events without leaving the app. This integration connects users to Predict.fun, a decentralized platform built on the BNB Smart Chain, which allows for trading on events such as elections and sports outcomes. The feature aims to lower barriers for retail users by covering blockchain transaction fees, thereby enhancing accessibility. Monthly trading volumes in prediction markets have skyrocketed to over $20 billion, reflecting a 200-fold increase in just two years. Currently, Polymarket and Kalshi dominate this space, controlling more than 97% of the market. Kalshi recently raised $1 billion at an $11 billion valuation, while Polymarket has attracted commitments of up to $2 billion from the owner of the New York Stock Exchange. Users are required to create a separate account to access the prediction market service, as Binance does not operate the markets directly.
