The altercation occurred around 12:30 PM on Saturday when Patil was working on the plot, which has been contested by several villagers for months. During the confrontation, three neighbors—Sanjay Kamalakar Patil, Sunil Kamalakar Patil, and Swapnil Sunil Patil—allegedly attacked him with iron rods and a knuckle-duster. The assault left Patil with serious injuries, including a severe blow to his right eye, which resulted in heavy bleeding, as well as multiple injuries to his hands, legs, back, and head. The assailants reportedly threatened Patil not to contact the police. He was subsequently taken to Gandhi Hospital in Kamothe for treatment. The Kamothe police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for grievous hurt and are pursuing the investigation to apprehend the accused.
