Effective from April 15, 2026, the rules stipulate that vehicles carrying more than the permissible Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) will incur fees based on the degree of overloading. Specifically, there will be no charge for overloads of up to 10%, while vehicles overloaded by 10% to 40% will be charged twice the base fare. Those exceeding 40% of the prescribed weight will face charges of four times the base fare. Overloading will be assessed using certified weight measurement devices at fee plazas, and fees will be collected exclusively through FASTag, with records maintained in the National Vehicle Register (VAHAN).
