Amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran, the Iran Mall in Tehran offers a glimpse of everyday life, showcasing a stark contrast to the surrounding turmoil. Ranked as the world's largest shopping mall by total area, it spans nearly 1.4 million square meters and is designed to function as a 'city within a city'. The mall, located in District 22 of Tehran near Chitgar Lake, is set to cover 1.95 million square meters when fully completed. Currently, it houses over 700 retail units and boasts facilities for entertainment, culture, and business. Notable features include a traditional bazaar, the Jondishapour Library, and an indoor ice rink. The mall has also played a crucial role during the pandemic, serving as a 3,000-bed COVID care center and a vaccination site. The project was led by Iranian entrepreneur Ali Ansari and involved more than 25,000 workers during its construction, which included a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous concrete pour lasting six days.
