Rajiv Soni, a 66-year-old retired chartered accountant from Gurugram, India, has dedicated the past five years to educating underprivileged children through his initiative, 'My School'. Launched in 2021 in Kanhai village with just 20 children, the program has expanded significantly, with over 300 children benefiting from its services. Soni's inspiration came from a chance encounter with four children in September 2020, who expressed their eagerness to learn. After teaching them basic literacy skills, he enrolled them in a government school, prompting him to extend the initiative further. Currently, 55 children are enrolled in private schools with their tuition sponsored by generous donors. The school provides nutritious meals and operates six days a week, offering classes in various subjects, including arts and technology. Soni believes that education is a fundamental right and stresses the importance of making it accessible to all children.
