The disruption began around 10:25 PM on Friday when the IAF aircraft suffered a landing gear failure, resulting in a hard landing that left it stranded on the runway. A minor fire broke out but was quickly controlled, with all crew members reported safe. The blocked runway necessitated a temporary shutdown, prompting authorities to issue a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and divert multiple incoming flights to airports in Goa, Chennai, Surat, Coimbatore, and Navi Mumbai. By 6:00 AM, the incident led to the cancellation of numerous flights, including 31 arrivals and 34 departures for IndiGo, along with cancellations from other airlines such as Air India and SpiceJet. Airlines worked to rebook and reroute affected passengers, while airport authorities provided support and updates. The IAF later confirmed that the runway had been restored and operations would resume in phases, with air traffic expected to stabilize as airlines clear the backlog.
