Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), stated that chief ministers from various non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states are in communication with her and are prepared to unite against ineffective leadership. Speaking at a campaign rally in Dinhata, located in Cooch Behar district, she expressed her intention to remove what she referred to as 'useless people' from power, emphasizing that the TMC is not pursuing power for its own sake but is focused on uniting the opposition. Banerjee also directed her criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that they are manipulating the electoral process by removing genuine voters from the rolls and bringing in outsiders to influence the vote. She assured that those whose names were deleted from the electoral roll could appeal to tribunals for reinstatement. In response, the Bengal BJP's chief spokesperson dismissed Banerjee's remarks, suggesting that targeting national leaders would not help her regain favor with the electorate, asserting that the real contest is between her and the citizens of Bengal.
