Warner Bros. has confirmed the project, with a working title of 'Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest,' revealed during its CinemaCon 2026 presentation in Las Vegas. HBO and Max chairman/CEO Casey Bloys acknowledged that the film is still in the early stages, with the creative team determining if the story merits a theatrical release. Screenwriter Beau Willimon, recognized for his work on 'Andor' and 'House of Cards,' is set to write the script, generating excitement among fans. Although author George R.R. Martin is reportedly involved in discussions, the extent of his participation remains unclear. This development follows previous plans by original showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who had proposed a trilogy of films to conclude the series, a concept that HBO ultimately rejected in favor of a television format.
