Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been assigned central security cover following the Punjab government's withdrawal of his Z+ category protection. This change comes amid criticism from within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which accuses Chadha of failing to raise significant issues affecting Punjab in Parliament. AAP leaders, including Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, have expressed disappointment over Chadha's silence on crucial financial matters, such as pending Rural Development Fund dues of approximately ₹8,500 crore and GST-related losses estimated at nearly ₹60,000 crore. They argue that Chadha, elected by Punjab MLAs, should actively represent the state's concerns at the national level. AAP leaders stress that addressing public issues without fear is fundamental to the party's principles, and any deviation undermines the mandate given by the people. The party expects Chadha to consistently raise these issues in Parliament to ensure that the concerns of Punjab residents, particularly those affected by recent floods, are adequately addressed.
