The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has announced the transmission tariff for the fiscal year 2026-27, setting it at ₹2,34,375.50 per MW per month for distribution licensees and Indian Railways. This marks a continuation of the capacity-based tariff system initiated last year, moving away from the previous per-unit (kWh) method. For open access consumers, the energy-based tariff remains at ₹0.3075 per kWh, with a cap limiting increases to 15% to mitigate tariff shock. Additionally, LDC charges have been reduced by 5.6%, now standing at ₹639.97 per MW per month, based on a contracted capacity of 60,789 MW. These changes follow public consultations and aim to ease the financial burden on users while encouraging open access growth as mandated by the Electricity Act, 2003. UPERC also issued directives for operational improvements, including annual audits and upgrades to enhance system efficiency and security.
