The Bowling Proprietors Association of Greater Dayton has announced the inaugural Buckeye Scratch Singles tournament, scheduled for May 2 at Poelking Lanes South in Centerville, Ohio. This event is designed for bowlers aged 18 and older, offering a $1,000 guaranteed first-place prize. Jenny Clarke, executive director of the Bowling Centers Association of Ohio, emphasized the wealth of talent in the area, stating that this tournament will provide a competitive platform for bowlers who travel across the state and country. Unlike most local tournaments that are primarily handicap events, this scratch tournament aims to highlight the skills of local scratch bowlers. Professional bowler Brian Kretzer has been instrumental in shaping the tournament's format and payout structure, ensuring that one in four bowlers will cash in on their performance. The BPAGD is also offering a reduced entry fee for league bowlers, encouraging wider participation.
