At a rally in Murshidabad, Abhishek Banerjee, a senior leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), emphasized that voting for any party other than the TMC would inadvertently support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He accused the BJP of attempting to dismantle the Congress party's influence while asserting that the TMC was working to counteract BJP's growing presence in the region. Banerjee raised concerns about irregularities in the electoral rolls, claiming that 63% of those deleted were Hindu Bengalis, and accused the BJP of using this to disenfranchise voters. He promised financial assistance exceeding ₹100 crore for families affected by river erosion and detailed a five-point welfare program aimed at providing piped drinking water, healthcare services, old-age pensions, and housing. Banerjee also criticized the BJP for rising fertilizer costs and pledged to support farmers with an annual agriculture budget of ₹30,000 crore. He called for unity among all communities to ensure a strong response against divisive politics and urged voters to back the TMC for stability and development as polling approaches on April 23.
