The Gujarat Titans have signed South African cricketer Connor Esterhuizen as a replacement for the injured Tom Banton, who was acquired for ₹2 crore but did not participate in the current IPL season. Esterhuizen, signed for ₹75 lakh (approximately $90,000 USD), made a notable T20I debut earlier this year, scoring 200 runs at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 145.98 during a five-match series against New Zealand. He earned two Player-of-the-Match awards and was named Player of the Series. Esterhuizen has experience playing for teams like Pretoria Capitals and MI Cape Town in the SA20, and he has also appeared in the ILT20. Meanwhile, Banton made a return to the IPL after four years, having previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2021. Currently, the Gujarat Titans are sixth on the IPL points table with two wins from four matches, tied with four other teams, each having four points.
