The Nandoshi hospital project in Pune, India, has been renamed the Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences to honor the legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale. The decision was made by the board of trustees of the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation, which initially intended to name the facility after Lata Mangeshkar alone. This change comes after the passing of Asha Bhosale on April 12. The first phase of the project will feature a 1,000-bed super-speciality surgical hospital and will cover 22.5 lakh square feet of construction. Future phases will include dedicated facilities for rehabilitation and psychiatry, as well as a museum celebrating Lata Mangeshkar's life. A foundation stone-laying ceremony will take place on April 16, attended by prominent figures including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. The chairman of the foundation, Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar, emphasized the significance of establishing a healthcare institution in honor of these iconic artists.
