The International Cricket Council (ICC) is currently investigating allegations of corruption related to a match between the Canada Cricket Team and New Zealand during the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup. This scrutiny follows claims made in a 43-minute documentary titled 'Corruption, Crime and Cricket', produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The documentary outlines various accusations regarding governance and corruption within Cricket Canada. The focus of the investigation is on a specific moment in the match when Canada's captain, Dilpreet Bajwa, bowled during a critical fifth over. Bajwa, who was only 22 years old and appointed captain just three weeks prior to the tournament, had a notably poor performance, conceding 15 runs in that over, which included a no-ball and a wide. Andrew Ephgrave, the interim General Manager of the ICC’s Integrity Unit, confirmed awareness of the documentary but stated that the ACU cannot comment on the details of the allegations while the investigation is active. The ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the sport through intelligence, prevention, education, and investigation.
