The country ranks among the top five globally in 'thinking capability usage per person,' based on the usage of reasoning tokens by ChatGPT Plus users. However, the report reveals that AI adoption is predominantly concentrated in major urban centers, with the top 10 cities accounting for about 50% of all AI users despite making up less than 10% of the population. Delhi NCR is noted for its high penetration of ChatGPT usage. The disparity is more pronounced in advanced use cases, where cities show up to 30 times higher data analysis usage compared to less developed regions. OpenAI's Managing Director, Oliver Jay, emphasized the importance of expanding AI benefits beyond early adopters to the wider population, advocating for better infrastructure and skills development. The report also notes growing AI usage in education and healthcare in smaller states, indicating potential for broader adoption.
