In a pivotal move for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Nara Lokesh, the IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed as the National Working President. This decision marks a significant generational transition within the party. Alongside Lokesh, MLA Palla Srinivas has been designated as the State President. A landmark decision was made with the appointment of Dr. Byreddy Shabari as the first-ever woman National General Secretary, reflecting TDP's commitment to women's empowerment. The newly structured organizational framework consists of a 29-member Politburo, a 31-member National Committee, and a 185-member State Committee, all formed after extensive deliberations to ensure social, regional, and political balance. Notably, 122 members of the State Committee represent weaker sections, including 77 from Backwards Classes, 25 from Scheduled Castes, 7 from Scheduled Tribes, and 13 from minority communities. The party has prioritized women's representation, including 50 women in the State Committee, aligning with its goal of 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies as it prepares for the 2029 elections.
