During his time at Tennessee from 2020 to 2022, Gilbert played 141 games, achieving a .314 batting average, hitting 22 home runs, and driving in 140 RBIs. He was selected by the Houston Astros as the 28th overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft. The Giants are also dealing with injuries, placing outfielder Jared Oliva on the 10-day injured list due to a wrist fracture and Harrison Bader on the same list with a hamstring strain.
