This decision, made by the university's syndicate, aims to align CU's academic schedule with national norms and address the lack of structure in postgraduate programs. Previously, the absence of a calendar led to inconsistencies in the start of academic sessions and exam schedules, with some departments beginning classes late and others conducting exams at different times. The new calendar specifies that all postgraduate classes will commence in July, with the first semester ending in December, thereby ensuring uniformity across all departments and affiliated colleges. Additionally, CU will conduct postgraduate entrance tests in May, before the announcement of undergraduate results, which is expected to streamline the admission process. Professors and university officials have expressed optimism about the calendar, believing it will enhance the quality of education and academic practices at CU.
