A tragic accident occurred on Sunday morning around 9:20 am on National Highway 50 near Danapur village in Vijayanagara district, Karnataka, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 20 others. The incident involved a Haryana-registered lorry carrying garlic that lost control and collided with a bike, a car, and a government bus, before overturning. The deceased include H Durugappa, Sujatha, her father Nagappa, and her brother Kotresh. While Durugappa and Sujatha died at the scene, Nagappa succumbed to injuries at Koppal hospital, and Kotresh later died from his injuries. District Superintendent of Police S Jahnavi stated that negligence by the lorry driver was the primary cause of the accident. Among the injured, six were transferred to Koppal District Hospital for advanced treatment, while the others are being treated locally. The accident caused significant traffic disruptions, with delays extending for nearly three kilometers on both sides of the highway as police conducted investigations at the scene.
