However, Munaf Patel, a former Indian pacer and member of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad, believes Bumrah's popularity does not match that of Virat Kohli, who remains a larger figure in Indian cricket. Patel pointed out that while Bumrah is undoubtedly a star, the difference in their popularity is notable. He also raised concerns about the current state of fast bowling in India, indicating a lack of players capable of bowling at speeds exceeding 140 km/h. Patel stressed the importance of nurturing young talent, suggesting that the focus should be on building pace and strength among aspiring fast bowlers. He noted that while many bowlers can reach 125 km/h, those who can consistently bowl faster are rare and often go unnoticed. This disparity highlights a critical area for improvement in Indian cricket's approach to developing fast bowlers.
