In a significant move to bolster infrastructure development, the Maharashtra state government will transfer 1,878 hectares of land to the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) without any cost. This land, comprising 174 parcels across eight talukas including Haveli, Mulshi, and Daund, is currently underutilized and faces risks of encroachment. District collector Jitendra Dudi stated that the decision, made on Wednesday, is part of a broader strategy initiated last year to transfer unused government lands to regional authorities for development purposes. The PMRDA, established in 2016, is tasked with planning and developing the Pune Metropolitan Region, which encompasses over 800 villages. Following legal challenges that led to the scrapping of an earlier development plan, the authority is now focused on creating a new structural plan that will prioritize land allocation for roads and key infrastructure projects.
