The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Sarfaraz Ahmed, a former Test captain, as the new head coach of the national Test squad ahead of their two-match series against Bangladesh. The squad features 36-year-old pace bowler Mohammad Abbas, who returns after a long absence since January 2025, and includes four uncapped players: Abdullah Fazal, Azan Awais, Amad Butt, and Ghazi Ghouri. The first Test is set to occur at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 8 to 12, followed by the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16 to 20. Shan Masood will continue as captain, while former Test players Asad Shafique and Umar Gul will serve as batting and bowling coaches, respectively. The PCB has dropped several players from the previous squad, including spinners Asif Afridi and Abrar Ahmed. Additionally, Naveed Akram Cheema returns as manager after health issues sidelined him during the recent white-ball series in Bangladesh.
