The Manipur Police have raised concerns over the participation of anti-social elements in night torch rallies across Imphal, Manipur, claiming these individuals are engaging in violent activities while posing as protesters. This follows a series of violent incidents, including a bomb attack on April 7 in Bishnupur district that resulted in the deaths of two children, and clashes near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp that left three dead. Imphal West Superintendent of Police Ksh Shivakanta Singh reported that during these rallies, participants have used petrol bombs and stones against security forces. Some protesters have also been found under the influence of alcohol or other substances. The police are urging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement to prevent further violence and destruction of property. Legal actions will be initiated against those found responsible for instigating violence.
