In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, a truck driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a civic work site on the Eastern Express Highway in Vikhroli East, Mumbai, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Chandan Kumar Madan Prasad, a fitter from Gopalganj, Bihar. The accident occurred around 4:15 AM near the Bhandup pumping station, where workers were engaged in bridge and sewage pit construction. Prasad was asleep behind the barricades with two fellow workers, JJ Thomas and Mukesh Kumar Singh, who were injured in the crash. Prasad sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to Veer Savarkar Hospital before being transferred to Fortis Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The truck driver, Mohammed Tajir Jaan Mohammed from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, has been charged under sections 106 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence and rash driving, respectively, following a complaint from Prasad's brother-in-law.
