Onetu, a junior this past season, spent his first year of college basketball at Hofstra, averaging 4.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks on 17.9 minutes per game. Playing in all 35 contests, he made 17 starts. Standing 6’10, 235 pounds, Onetu hails from Alhaurin el Grande, Malaga, Spain, and he played at CB Prat Juventud in the Spanish Segunda FEB, where he averaged 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, prior to going to Hofstra. Wisconsin was looking for big man depth after the loss of Aleksas Bieliauskas, and showed interest in Onetu, bringing him in for an official visit. The Badgers needed more of a shot-blocker to pair with Nolan Winter and Austin Rapp, and Onetu is a high-intensity player who rebounds and defends at a quality level. With him in the fold, the Badgers have a solid frontcourt rotation for next year, which consists of Winter, Rapp, Onetu, and rising sophomore Will Garlock. Onetu joins George Washington transfer guard Trey Autry as the two confirmed transfers in the cycle for Wisconsin so far.
