Renu Bhatia, the chairperson of the Haryana State Women’s Commission, has called on the Haryana state government to take strict action against creators of harmful content, particularly in music. She expressed alarm over the promotion of gun culture and derogatory language, which she believes negatively influences youth, especially school-going students. This statement follows controversies surrounding the song 'Tatteri' by rapper Aditya Pratap Singh, known as Badshah, which has been criticized for its portrayal of schoolgirls. Bhatia pointed out that the glorification of violence and disrespect towards women in songs contradicts initiatives like 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' aimed at protecting and educating girls. She has urged the chief minister, Nayab Singh Saini, to implement stringent regulations and monitoring mechanisms to prevent the release of such content. Additionally, she mentioned that the commission has reached out to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for support in this matter. Bhatia also noted that after Badshah failed to appear before the commission, he later apologized and committed to funding the education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections.
