Israel's military has released a map detailing its new deployment line in southern Lebanon, indicating control over numerous villages despite a ceasefire with Hezbollah. The newly established buffer zone extends 5 to 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory and is part of Israel's strategy to secure its northern borders from Hezbollah attacks. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are currently operating five divisions in the area to dismantle Hezbollah's infrastructure and mitigate threats to communities in northern Israel. Despite the ceasefire agreement brokered by the US, concerns have been raised among Lebanese officials and civilians regarding restricted access to their homes. Many displaced citizens are unable to return to their villages due to Israeli military control. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated the government's commitment to ensuring the safety of Israeli soldiers, indicating that any structures posing a threat would be destroyed. The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 2,100 deaths, including 177 children, and displaced more than 1.2 million people in Lebanon since the escalation began on March 2.
