On Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir Police demolished the house of Shaif Din, an alleged drug peddler currently in jail, in the Belicharana area of Jammu. This action is part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on April 11, aimed at eradicating substance abuse through a combination of enforcement and awareness initiatives. The demolished property, valued at around ₹2 crore (approximately $240,000 USD), was reportedly built on encroached land using proceeds from drug-related activities. Police also removed grass huts and seized two-wheelers during the operation. Despite attempts by family members to obstruct the demolition, police, including female officers, managed to carry out the task. Officials indicated that over 150 properties linked to drug peddlers have been either seized or demolished in Jammu over the past year, and they plan to continue their crackdown on drug trafficking networks, including revoking essential documents like passports and licenses.
