He described the TMC's actions as a betrayal of women and a conspiracy to maintain their dominance in the state. Modi emphasized the importance of women's empowerment and accused the TMC of breaking laws to benefit illegal immigrants. He pointed out the TMC's disrespect towards President Droupadi Murmu during her visit to West Bengal, stating that the TMC's actions would not be forgotten by the women of Bengal. The Lok Sabha had recently seen a division on the bill, with 298 members voting in favor and 230 against. As the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections approach, both the BJP and TMC are vying for the support of women voters, with the TMC promoting its Lakshmi Bhandar scheme to provide financial assistance to women.
