On April 15, 2023, the Gurugram police, in collaboration with the district administration, intensified their efforts against organized crime by demolishing illegal properties linked to gangster Kaushal Chaudhary and drug trafficker Bhajan Lal, also known as Gajepal. In Naharpur Rupa village, police razed structures covering approximately 1,500 square yards of land valued at ₹50 crore (around $6 million USD), reclaiming it for the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). Chaudhary, aged 45, is a notorious figure with 37 criminal cases against him, including murder and extortion. He is implicated in high-profile murders and operates his gang internationally. His wife, known as the “Lady Don,” is also incarcerated. The operation against illegal properties is part of a broader initiative by the Haryana government to dismantle the financial networks of criminals, ensuring public safety. Authorities have pledged to continue these actions to combat organized crime effectively.
