On April 15, the Allahabad High Court intervened to stay the demolition of 48 properties in the Nahar Bazar area of Dibiyapur, Auraiya district, India, which was set for April 16, 2026. A division bench comprising Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Vivek Varma ordered the state authorities to maintain the status quo on the disputed properties and to file a counter affidavit within a week. The urgency of the matter was highlighted when Suman Devi filed a writ petition challenging a previous order from September 30, 2025, which allowed for the eviction of residents from their homes and shops. The petitioner argued that relevant documents were not considered, and the demolition would lead to irreparable loss. In response, the state counsel claimed that the petitioners had multiple opportunities to present their case but failed to do so. The court, after considering both sides, scheduled the next hearing for April 29, 2026, and directed immediate communication of its decision to the Auraiya district magistrate for compliance.
