The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of over 51,000 'Lil’ Buddies Pet Laser Toys' sold by JC Sales, based in Los Angeles. These toys, which feature model number 24496, were found to have dangerously unsecured battery compartments that allow easy access to button cell batteries, creating a significant risk of ingestion and potential death for children. The toys, which are white with blue paw prints, were sold with three button cell batteries included and were available at various retailers across the U.S. from February 2023 through November 2025 for approximately $1. Although no injuries have been reported, the CPSC emphasized the dangers posed by these batteries, which can cause internal burns and serious injuries if swallowed. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled toys immediately and to contact JC Sales for a full refund. This recall is part of a broader trend of recent safety alerts regarding consumer products.
