In a significant crackdown on real estate fraud, police in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, have attached movable and immovable assets valued at ₹5.78 crore belonging to a gang involved in large-scale fraud. The operation targeted gang leader Pramod Kumar Upadhyay and his associate Vinod Kumar Upadhyay, following a court order issued on April 6. The gang has been active since 2020 and is linked to 66 cases across various police stations, including charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and forgery. They allegedly exploited victims, particularly defense and paramilitary personnel, by posing as representatives of reputable real estate firms and offering attractive deals on non-existent or disputed land. The attached assets include plots and a semi-constructed house in Omaxe City, with further actions planned to seize additional properties.
