The Avadi Assembly Constituency, part of Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu, is gearing up for the 2026 Assembly elections. The Election Commission of India has announced a total of 14 candidates contesting for the seat, including prominent figures such as SM Nasar from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Rajasimha Mahendra from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The constituency has 4,28,772 voters, comprising 2,09,662 men and 2,19,035 women, and a literacy rate of 83.82% as per the 2011 Census. The elections will take place on April 23, 2026, with counting scheduled for May 4, 2026. Avadi is reserved for the General category, with 17.35% of its population belonging to the Scheduled Caste community. In the previous 2021 elections, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance won a significant majority, securing 159 out of 234 seats.
