The inaugural Shooting League of Maharashtra (SLM) is set to take place from April 17-19, 2023, at the Chhatraguj Nurses School in Pune, Maharashtra. Organized by the Maharashtra Rifle Association (MRA), this event marks a significant step in establishing a structured shooting league framework in India, following the successful launch of the Shooting League of Karnataka. The SLM will feature 18 district teams competing in 10m rifle and pistol categories, with a total of 144 athletes participating, fostering regional identity and local pride. The league aims to enhance the visibility of the sport and build a stronger fan base by making shooting more accessible and engaging. Notably, the league will include prominent figures in Indian shooting, such as Olympians Rahi Sarnobat and Anjali Bhagwat, who will mentor the athletes. The format will allow mixed teams, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunity in competition, aligning with the broader vision of the Shooting League of India.
